- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪This was by far the worst doctor's experience in my life. My appointment was at 2:00 in early January 2017, and I arrived ten minutes early, like they requested, to complete the necessary paperwork. The nurse/assistant led me to an exam room, ask a few questions and I proceeded to wait an hour for the PA Skye Richards. With having abnormal dry skin, contact dermatitis on my eyelids, and other rashes on my chest and legs, I prefaced our conversation by telling both Richards and nurse that I have not changed shampoos, lotions, soaps, detergents, etc...nothing has changed in my life in the last six months...except for a recent prescription that I began taking a month prior. She proceeds to ask me if I have altered by lotions, soaps, or detergents recently?? Clearly, she does not listen to patients. Richards looked at my eyelids for 3.2 seconds and chose not to examine my other skin problem areas, but then asked me if I was sure I hadn't changed soaps, lotions or detergents. I tell her again that nothing has changed except for a prescription, that she completely dismisses and says, 'we'll, I don't think that has anything to do with it'. After four minutes with me, she says I need an allergy testing kit and warns me of the costly expense, writes a generic prescription and leaves...barely saying goodbye, showing no compassion or empathy for my discomfort and is out of the exam room under five minutes.Completely taken aback by what just happened, I broke into tears to the nurse, who was extremely caring and nice. The next day, I spoke with their office manager Patti, who had about the same level of interest and compassion as Richards did towards my appointment. Within the month, I stop my prescription for 10 days, my symptoms clear up...I restart the same prescription and the dry skin, eyelid issue and rashes reappears on my legs and chest. I'm not the doctor, but I see a pattern. Luckily, the office found the time to write an invoice and mail me a bill, thanks! I would rather get a Pap smear that have to relive that Steamboat Dermatology experience.June 11, 2017by Melanie Nimtz
